1st Annual CEO Forum on Children’s Rights and the Business Sector
The Children and Business Network Nigeria (CBNG) will be holding its 1st Annual CEO Forum on Children’s Rights and the Business Sector on May 30, 2013 at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos. The event, an invitation –only event, is a landmark forum on Children’s Rights and the Business Sector in Nigeria.
The CBNG, an advocacy platform to engage the private sector to make a serious commitment to support Children’s Rights through their HR Practices and CSR Targets, was founded in 2013 by Ms Toyin Olakanpo– a seasoned lawyer, child rights advocate and global education consultant.
The target audience for the Forum will include CEOs/MDs, HR, CSR and Marketing Executives of a cross section of business sectors; Financial Services; Automotive; Telecoms; Oil & Gas; Manufacturing; Food & Beverages and Pharmaceuticals; and NGOs with interests in Child Rights
The focus of the Forum will be:
- To guide businesses in supporting Children’s Rights by highlighting the opportunities available to respect and support children’s rights through their HR Policies and CSR Targets giving concrete examples of businesses that have succeeded in this area;
- To create valuable partnerships and other forms of collective action in advancing Children’s Rights in Nigeria through the private sector.
His Excellency Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, Executive Governor of Lagos State will give the Keynote Address, while the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce & Industry, Mrs Sola Oworu will give the Opening Address at the event.
Confirmed speakers include the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (Nigeria) Professor Bem Angwe; the General Manager, Health, Safety, Environment & Community Relations of Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria – Mrs Grace Amadi;, the MD/CEO of Promasidor Nigeria – Mr Keith Richards; the Executive Director of Diamond Bank, Mr Uzoma Dozie and the MD/CEO of Unilever Nigeria, Mr Thabo Mabe.
